About Alaska Bulldogs
Alaska Bulldogs is an independent, educational guide for people who share their homes with English, French and American bulldogs in Alaska and other cold, northern places.
Why this site exists
Most cold-weather dog advice assumes a thick-coated, long-nosed dog. Bulldogs are different: they are sensitive to cold because of their short coats and sensitive to heat because of their airways. We wanted one place that pulls together practical, breed-specific advice for winters with very little daylight, ice and subzero temperatures, and for summers with long, warm days.
What we are and are not
- We are an information resource written for owners.
- We are not a breeder, a rescue, a kennel or a veterinary practice. We have no puppies for sale and we do not endorse or refer to specific breeders.
- We are not a substitute for your veterinarian. Nothing on this site is veterinary advice.
How we write our guides
We base our guides on widely accepted veterinary guidance and reputable sources such as veterinary schools, breed health organisations and public health databases like the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals. Where advice depends on the individual dog, we say so and point you to your vet. We avoid product endorsements, and we do not accept payment for placement.
